Conversation in the year ‘2113’ – ” What is a blog anyway? Can you believe she wore clothes like that. Look at those shoes. HaHaHa! Did that really happen? Lets see if she said anything about me. She always wrote about you. You must have been her favorite. Did they really live in such a small house?” Of course by the time this happens I have become a famous writer and have won many awards. Yay! I hate to know that I had to die to see this happen. 😦
I wonder if in a hundred years our great-grandchildren will look back on our blogs and laugh at what we wrote ‘back in the day’. Mine are sometimes laughing now! What we are really writing is a kinda diary. An electronic diary. A diary of what we feel each day. We leave thoughts about our lives, our feelings about life situations, and details of our life at the present time all on a page for the world to see.
Check out A Hundred Years Ago, a blog by Sheryl Lazarus, compiled of diary entries her grandmother made a hundred years ago to the day. She has added in pictures, information on that time period, and her thoughts about her grandmothers life to make a very interesting post. Will our families wonder about our lives as Sheryl did about her grandmothers? Will Sheryl’s family hold her blog close to their hearts as she did her grandmothers diary?
Technology has come so far. I remember watching ‘The Jetsons’ when I was young. (It was one of my favorite cartoons rating right up there with ‘Yogi Bear’!) George Jetson could talk to his wife from work and they could actually see each other – its called FaceTime or Skype today folks! Did you ever think back in the 60’s or 70’s that you would be able to see your children or grandchildren so vividly while they were a half a world away? I’m sure we dreamed about it.
Computers were not thought of either – at least not in the home. Now every home has one. They are affordable and a must have, especially if you have school age children. (And if you have school age or younger children they can teach you the ins and outs of the process, so don’t worry about that!) My blog would not exist and ‘Crossing The Line’ probably would have never been written if I had lived a hundred years ago.
We sure have it easier today!
Here’s an article on what we may expect in technology in the future. Now I really could use that washing machine. I have hardly any closet space to speak of in this house and have already been using my dishwasher as an extra cabinet for years! Who doesn’t do that? Be honest. Maybe I am just too lazy to unload it because I do have the cabinet space. I just can’t figure out how we will be able to tell what piece of clothing is rolled up into that little ball. “Is this my blue sweater or Harry’s blue shirt? I know they are both the same shade of blue. Ugggh!” And where will we store all those little balls. Just toss them in a basket and dig for what we think we want to wear today or just take pot luck? What you grab is what you wear. Decisions…decisions.
I would probably get a lot more done if I did not have these modern conveniences. I have answered three texts, two emails, ignored two calls , and answered one in the process of writing this post. Sometimes we have to walk away!

Finding Myself Through Writing 
Sometimes I wonder if what we write in blogs now will still be around a hundred years out in the future. I try to save what I write in multiple formats, but that said, I’m way behind on doing that and basically trust the technology.

You’re very welcome, I try to post what inspires me! I never thought of that – I mean to save it in multiple formats. I guess pen and paper is the only format that keeps on going and even that fades with time.
