NETWORKING IS MY ANSWER TO GROWTH

NETWORKING IS MY ANSWER TO GROWTH

I’m excited. Are you excited? Snoopy and Charlie Brown are excited! Even though I’m not the tattoo artist she thought I was, thanks to tripleclicka I received my 400th follower on my blog last night and I slept through the whole thing. 😦 I’m on top of it now though!

Where did she find me? Through Julz of course on The Spare – A Place To Play! As Janice Wald mentioned to me in a comment this morning – “Networking is the answer to growth.”

Now tripleclicka (I would call her by name, though I didn’t find that info on her site – hint-hint) didn’t ask for this and I didn’t advertise it, but I’m going to send her a copy of  ‘Crossing The Line’ just as soon as she sends me her contact information. It’s the least I can do! You can get your copy of Crossing too if you just click on that book cover over to your right in my side bar. 😉

It may not be a big deal to you or the blogger who has followers in the thousands, however, to me the number 400 is a huge thing when you start from zero. It may have taken me two years to do it, but it was two years well spent and now I have 400 great new friends in my neighborhood to show for all that hard work! That’s pretty cool.

If you are visiting and reading come follow along on that follow button in the sidebar. You never know what I will do when I reach 500 or even 401! 😉

  1. Congratulations, Elle! I can sooooo relate to your excitement. I celebrate EVERY SINGLE new person who signs up for my email notices on the blogs – and wondered if anybody else felt the same way. Like you, I work hard to keep content relevant and interesting and when the numbers plateau, I wonder if I’m doing something wrong – if I’m not connecting. I feel so new to all this – I came to social media way after my peers had arrived, settled in, and became vets, clicking away with abandon. So, after two years of blogging, I’m still finding my way.

Recently I started a new FB page for the Fat-Bottom-Fifties Get Fierce blog, with no idea how to get the word out. The answer, like you and Janice have said, is NETWORKING. I looked around and commented on other humor FB pages I liked. While I have fledgling numbers, a couple of vets with more established numbers noted my comments and graciously gave me a shout-out on their pages – which resulted in some of their readers “liking” my page. So appreciated! As I’ve said to you before, the lessons you have learned and passed on have been a big help as well as entertaining for me – thanks!

  5. Hi Elle,
    1. I followed your blog via Email tonight. Sorry for my delay. I came in to follow your blog, and to my delight saw I was quoted in your article! Woo Hoo! I am going to put it in the “Shoutout” Section of my About Page. Thank you!
    2. As far as reblog Wednesday, is it a Twitter hashtag? We post someone else’s link though, yes? Not our own? Thanks again so much for the support this week. I reached 300, in part, thanks to you.
    3. Congratulations on 400 followers. That is amazing. It’s clear you have built a wonderful community.

    • Thanks Janice, but it took me a while to accomplish that! Yes on #reblogwednesday. When you re-blog someone else’s blog on Wednesday go to this page – http://wp.me/P36w0d-Aa – and post the link with a short blurb about it in the comments and I will add to my participant page. When you re-blog five times you will get your very own page. Some are almost there! Then you can add your page on your site somewhere and everyone can easily get to all your re-blogs. Thanks for adding to your ‘shoutout section ‘ of your about page! I’ll go take a look. And thanks for the follow! 😉 ~Elle

  10. Elle,

Congratulations on your Crossing The Line series and your 400th follower on your blog. There is no question Networking does work to connect to people and get your name out there. I started blogging in early January, just before my latest book was published. If you have a moment, please check it out at https://annermurray.wordpress.com @ annepm2015
    Best wishes for success!
