OUR FAIR SHARE

OUR FAIR SHARE

What’s fair to some, is not fair to others, especially, when you consider the outcome of this years presidential election.

It’s only been four days, but it feels like forever and a day, since we trooped off to the polls, rooting for our candidate of choice, and then holding our breath. For months, we sat on the edge of our seats, through three debates, scrutinized countless speeches and hundreds of news broadcasts, and voiced our opinions to one and all, before making our final decision.

A man, who no one thought stood a chance in hell, won the title as the forty-fifth president of the United States. On the other hand, if the outcome had been the opposite, a woman, who no one thought stood a chance, would have been holding that same title. It was a toss-up for sure, with the question being six-of-one, half-a-dozen of another.

So what do you do? Some tend to think that rioting in the streets and holding protests are the answers. What they are expecting those acts to accomplish is a mystery to me. The same may have happened if the shoe was on the other foot. Now, we will never know.

Facebook is flogged with personal opinions and fishy articles – making you raise an eyebrow in wonder – on the winner and the looser. I’m sick of it to say the least, not even logging on some days, in protest myself.

Stocks are up – stocks are down. You never know what to expect there at any given moment.

People say they are scared. Scared of what? Life’s scary. You don’t want to be scared? Then jump right in and make the world a better place. Re-evaluate yourselves, stop taking offense to every little thing, and stand up for your rights as an American citizen.

That doesn’t mean, to think only of yourself. Do your fair share to right a few wrongs – war, terrorism, bullying, corruption – to name a few. It’s all alive and doesn’t sit well with most. If everyone worked together, loved a little more, and hated a lot less, there would be a huge improvement in the overall scaredness being passed around.

Yes, we will have our fair share of problems in the next four years, but has anyone ever, wholeheartedly agreed, with every decision handed down, with any president elect? I doubt it.

He may not end up being in the top ten best president category, but he deserves the right, as others before him, to put his best foot forward, with the USA praying he lands upright and steady.

My rant of the week! Ready to get back in the land of the living. No more news broadcast and no more debates!

  1. Well said. We live in a democracy. One side will win, One side will lose. It has been that way for over 200 years and so far it has always worked out. Thank you for your post. Hopefully this week will be a little better and less stressful on us all!

  2. Well said, Elle. You echoed what I have thought since the shock of Wednesday morning. Life goes on. The sun rises and falls. Be the difference you want to see in the world – kindly. 🙂

    • It was inevitable one of the two would win that election. Seems the country was ok to just flounder along in limbo not knowing. I think they were all enjoying the process of getting there. Ha!

  3. the rioting certaily doesn’t make any American look good, does it? As much I rather dislike trump, I feel we all need to work together. As someone said recently, hoping he fails is like hoping the pilot of our flight crashes the plane. Doesn’t work for anyone!!

  4. I agree that it’s a sad waste of time and energy to continue demonizing and belittling the Other Side, whatever side each of us stands on. The things we share in common — our concerns for ourselves, our families, our future — are stronger than whatever divides us. The more we can see each other as people just like us, the better off we’ll be. Of course, that has always been true.
