Taking a break

This has been a very long journey of telling the story of our years on an Alaskan homestead, in the late 1950’s and early 1960’s. Having my mothers journal and letters was the only way this book happened.

Traveling with kids of any age is an adventure. Try doing it with four under the age of seven, pulling an eight-foot by forty-foot trailer behind a two-ton pickup, with a Vernon-made camper on the back.

Add into the mix the fact that video games have not yet been invented to entertain those young children, and you may run the other way. My mother didn’t though.  You’ll find my mother was one strong woman when you read our story. She never gave it a second thought while following my father to Alaska in this adventure.
