Behind Closed Doors

Behind Closed Doors

Reading is reading no matter where you find the words. The Pickles comic strip has been a favorite of mine for years. This week Opal decided she wanted to redecorate the living room and add shiplap to one wall. Earl thought she said chimp lamp. They eventually came to an agreement.

We don’t have a chimp lamp but we have an old man lamp. I keep it in Andrews room – with the door closed…

Who else gets their laughs from the daily comics?

About Elle Knowles

Elle Knowles lives in the Florida Panhandle with her husband and off-at-college-most-of-the-time son. She has four daughters, one son, and eleven beautiful grandchildren. 'Crossing the Line' is her first novel. The sequel 'What Line' is a work in progress. Recently published is Coffee-Drunk Or Blind - a nonfiction story of homesteading in the Alaska wilderness with her parents and four siblings, told through letters by her mother and remembered accounts from the family.

  1. Call me crazy, but I kinda like the old man lamp. It’s a good kind of quirky.

  2. I’ve always loved the comic section of the papers. Sadly, it seems it is becoming a vanishing art—but i hope not.
