‘Why did she make things? Well she enjoyed it of course;
but it also somehow
helped her remember who she was and where she came from.’
(Sent to me from Jordan – she summed up my life quite nicely!)
I wrote my first book two years ago and was thrilled and elated about the prospect of publishing it. Yes, I considered publishing the old-fashion way, but after much research I decided I didn’t have the time to wait for that. It could take years to actually be published and anyway it was time to come into this century. I was excited. I could do this, I thought. And I did! ‘Crossing The Line’ is fiction, a beach read if you must, light reading. I plan to try writing other genres as well!
This blog started out being about the trials and tribulations of writing, publishing and marketing in today’s new ways of publishing. From there it evolved into what it is today – an outlet – an outlet for my writing. I also vent quite a bit. Sometimes you may hear about my writing, some days about my family. After all, they are a big part of my life and sometimes whether they like it or not they make very laughable content for my blog. 😉 I should write a book sometime. Wait! I did that!
I try to blog about once a week on the average. After all, I still need to actually work to make a living. (Blogging and writing to me is not work – it’s fun!) I sew – lots – for money! It’s a fun job too. My son at one time, when he was small, called me the ‘Queen of Sewing’. Where’s my crown?
While residing in the Florida Panhandle with my Band Director – retired, husband, Harry, we are fixing up Harry’s 1956 family home. It has been called a beach house, a bungalow, and a bomb shelter! We love it though and have learned quite a lot about home improvement DIY and how to live in a small space without killing each other!
There are in our mist, four daughters, one son, and twelve beautiful grandchildren. We will be really old when and if Andrew blesses us with more, but that’s ok. He’s still in college! Now working on his doctorate at USC. The last leg of his journey…
At the age of four I homesteaded in Alaska with my parents and four siblings (I’m the middle child. What does that tell you?) and then moved back to Louisiana five years later. Reading is my favorite pastime and I believe I can follow that path of writing so others can read. There have been many stories started, but never finished. One day I sat down and started ‘Crossing the Line’, finally finished eight months later, and published in February 2013. I lost all my work on the sequel ‘What Line’ while I was editing. That really took the wind out of my sails! I’ve recovered twenty-eight chapters and may get back to it one day.
In the meantime I started on that Alaska book I’ve been wanting to do for so long. Read about that project here. Good things do come from being stupid sometimes!
Avoiding The Tilt, another fiction read, was published in June, 2019. I’m now working on the sequel that as yet, has no name!
