A little bit of this, a little bit of that…

A little bit of this, a little bit of that…

This year is almost over and I’ve been very lazy in my blog writing, but it’s not because I haven’t tried. I looked through my drafts and counted twenty-nine – yes! 29 – partially written blog post for 2019. I was afraid to look back any further. 😬

This has been a busy year.

  • I published Avoiding The Tilt, my third book and then got bogged down in marketing and promoting.
  • I started an email list. You can sign up here. And believe me when I say you will very occasionally receive emails. So far there have been two since July. I do give free stuff away when I send out one so sign up and don’t miss out.
  • I purchased a new computer – a Mac versus a PC – so that has been a learning experience. I think I have the hang of it now. I know now I’ll never go back to a PC.
  • I have been working at my real job more this year. I actually had to work for six weeks straight in the shop in October and November. That was a nightmare because I usually work from home. Deb is retiring in February so there goes my job and all that free scrap fabric! 😂 Here’s where I use a lot of it.
  • And speaking of retirement, I’ll be there soon. Medicare is coming my way in December. My card has arrived along with my insurance supplement card. My insurance girl said I was the only one she has talked to who is happy about receiving Medicare. I’m just glad to be getting some medical insurance at an affordable price.
  • To relieve some stress, I’ve started dabbling in publishing low content/no content books. Yes, that’s a thing. What I love about it is making the book covers in Canva. So much fun! (I’ve got a lot of drafts here too) You can check out my content here . It’s stuff like this that makes great stocking stuffers at a low cost. I think I’m most proud of my password keeper books. Who doesn’t need one of those?!
  • Last, but not least, I’m still writing. Working on another book, but not ready to share details yet so stay tuned.

As you can see I’ve got a lot of irons in the fire. It’s no wonder all those blog posts got lost in the turmoil. The holidays are upon us so I see no relief in sight! We are traveling to Atlanta for Thanksgiving to celebrate with all but one of the kids. I’ll see her in December. What are your plans for Turkey Day?

What Hat are You Wearing Today

What Hat are You Wearing Today

Hats come in many different styles and colors. I wear many. Not so much as in actually wearing the hat, but as in doing what it represents.

My inventory of hats include – and not in any certain order –

  1. Daughter
  2. Sister
  3. Wife
  4. Mother
  5. Grandmother
  6. Keeper of all things important
  7. Writer
  8. Seamstress
  9. Pillow maker
  10. Lover of Social Media
  11. Clutter remover
  12. Mediator
  13. Self-Publisher
  14. Promoter
  15. Peacemaker
  16. Multi-tasker
  17. Blogger

I’m sure there is some hat I forgot to mention. The point is, I spread myself thin – very thin. But I like to keep busy so all is well.

At the moment I’m trying to finish my WIP. I’m not sure of the title yet. But it’s fiction and funny (it makes me laugh) and profiles the life of a working wife (Evie) with a newly retired husband (Leo). Leo needs a project to keep him busy and Evie needs time to keep her work-from-home business from sinking. This proves to be a large task with Leo underfoot. Visit Elle Knowles Facebook page to keep up with the process.

The holidays are here and that gets me working on my Etsy shop. (Yeah, I have one) Everyone needs new pillow covers to add cheer for the holidays. I’ve got a promotional contest going on now. Drop by pillowpods Facebook page and like, share, and comment on the post to have a chance to win a free holiday pillow cover. Visit pillowpods on Etsy to see all the pillowcovers. New pillow covers for all occasions coming soon!

I’m in the middle of making my newest grandchild a christening outfit. I’ve got this much done and waiting on a pants length from his mother so I can cut out the pants. I had to make that jacket pattern because I couldn’t find one with a shawl collar, but it turned out better than I expected. Hope it fits. Sewing long distance is not easy.

Andrew will be home in a couple weeks, between semesters, for Christmas, so I’m trying to figure out where to stash all this ‘stuff‘ so he’ll have a place to lay his head. BTW – today is his 25th birthday! Happy Birthday Andrew!

I haven’t gotten my tree up yet, but I’ve thought about it a lot. I wonder sometimes if H realizes this needs to be done – soon.

So that’s what’s been going on in my life. Busy, busy but it keeps me happy! What’s going on for the holidays with you?

Let me go find another hat to wear!
