THE WEEK IN REVIEW – it’s all about them…

So last  week started out with daily visits to Toyota dealerships because H has a bad case of new truck fever. It must not be contagious because I haven’t caught the nasty bug yet. I may be immune – I’ve got my new car.

Let’s hope a few doses of sticker shock will bring that fever down. He doesn’t need a new truck. His isn’t even paid for yet – and he loves his truck. 

But as we all know, new truck fever is not to be dealt with lightly. Symptoms include:

• Brightness in eyes whenever you drive through a car dealership
• Racing pulse as you single out the vehicle of your choice
• Tightness in chest as options and upgrades are listed
• Lightheadedness from the whiff of that new car smell

We’ve made three trips – yes, three – to Troy this week. Once to trade vehicles with Andrew so we could get some work done on his car, combined with a run through the Toyota dealership in Enterprise, to soothe H’s fever, and for H to work with Zion Chapel High School’s band. (This is where Andrew is doing his internship this semester.) 

Once again, to Troy to take Andrew’s car back to him, and the last trip on Saturday because H was an adjudicator for the Southeastern United States Marching Band Festival at Troy University. 

Andrew couldn’t be there for this festival because he had to be at another marching festival with Zion Chapel’s band. (His drum line took first in class!) He asked me how The Sound of the South sounded. I told him they were great as usual, but it’s hard to get excited when you don’t have someone you love performing. He said he guesses he will understand that one day.

Things we do for our children: 

Tuesday I was on the phone, on the computer, or in the car most of the day, taking care of stuff Andrew should have been taking care of. He says he has no time, so of course I said I would. 

I called in a prescription, picked it up, and then deposited a check into his bank account that he had been carrying around with him for three weeks. 

I ordered a replacement screen cover for his phone, requested an absentee ballot for him to vote, and last, but definitely not least, I ordered his cap and gown for graduation on December 16! He doesn’t want to walk – we told him he had to. After all, we want to see where our money has gone…

Andrew texted me at 12:07am Friday, after we had had a conversation earlier about the problem of a mouse in his house. 

He said it took all of five minutes, after he set the trap, to catch that rodent.“Now I can sleep tonight!” 

Between all that ‘doing’ for H and Andrew, I worked on Coffee-Drunk or Blind because publishing is hard work – or rather getting ready to publish is. I’m not quite there yet, but close. I promise you will love it! 

Look what came in the mail Saturday while we were out of town! So proud of him. It’s been a long road…

Yes, I will press the wrinkles out of this! That’s why I had it sent to my house instead of his!
