I lived in rural Gloucestershire in mid 1970’s. I worked at machine shop, just outside of Dursley. In the 1970’s most people thought I was mad for doing so. Living in a city like London, Manchester or even Bristol, was where it was all about. The countryside … oooh icky!
Now it’s a badge of honour and sign of success. My, how times have changed.

I lived in the village of Coaley, in a council house. While working for Mawdsley’s. near Dursley. Mawdsley’s have since moved to Gloucester. Then we emigrated to Canada, 1977 to this town in the South-eastern part of B.C.. Rural living in 1970’s was mostly looked down on, for it implied a lack of education and urbane culture. That was then, things have changed I guess? Cheers Jamie.

A few months now, but it defeats me somewhat. Seems like 100000 people in a stadium all trying to make themselves heard.
